Six things we do, and the problems each one is for.

Most clients arrive with a symptom rather than a specification - reports that take a week, stock that never matches, a system nobody dares change. This page is organised by problem so you can find yours.

01

Custom business software

Applications built around the way your company already works, rather than changing how you work to suit a product.

Suitable for

Businesses with a process that is genuinely their own, and enough volume that doing it by hand has started to cost money.

What it solves

  • Off-the-shelf software fits most of the process but breaks on the part that matters most
  • The real process lives in spreadsheets, email threads and someone's head
  • Several tools each do a piece of the job and nothing joins them up
  • Growth has made a manual process too slow or too error-prone to keep doing

Typical features

  • Role-based access so each team sees only what it needs
  • Approval and review steps that mirror how decisions are actually made
  • Audit trails on the records that matter
  • Reporting built for the questions your managers ask
  • Document generation - invoices, run sheets, statements, certificates
  • Imports and exports for the systems you cannot replace yet

How we approach it

We start by mapping the current process end to end, including the workarounds. The first release covers the part of the process that hurts most, so the system earns its place before it is finished.

02

ERP & business management systems

One system across operations, inventory, purchasing, sales, billing and reporting, working from a shared database.

Suitable for

Companies of roughly 20 to 300 staff who have outgrown spreadsheets and separate tools but do not need - or want to pay for - a large commercial ERP.

What it solves

  • The same customer or product exists in three systems with three different values
  • Month-end reporting is rebuilt by hand because no single system holds the whole picture
  • Departments wait on each other for information that should already be visible
  • A third-party ERP was priced or scoped for a much larger company

Typical features

  • Central database with department modules on top
  • Sales, purchasing and inventory kept in step
  • Billing and invoicing, including automatic generation and delivery
  • Credit control and receivables tracking
  • Customisable reports rather than a fixed report list
  • Dashboards per role, not one dashboard for everyone

How we approach it

Delivered module by module, each with its own requirements, build, user acceptance testing and go-live. Departments start using finished software while later modules are still being written.

03

AI-integrated application development

Add AI capability to software you already run, or build a new application around it - using the model that fits the job, not the one that is trending.

Suitable for

Businesses that want a specific AI-driven capability - not a vague "AI strategy" - added to how they already work.

What it solves

  • A manual task (classification, drafting, extraction, search) that a model could do faster than a person, every time
  • Client data cannot leave your infrastructure, which rules out most hosted AI products
  • A frontier model API would be the fastest route, but cost or vendor lock-in is a real concern at your volume
  • An existing system needs one AI-powered feature, not a rebuild

Typical features

  • Integration with frontier model APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) where speed to value matters most
  • Self-hosted open-source models (Llama, Mistral and similar) where data cannot leave your infrastructure, or per-call cost matters at volume
  • Retrieval-augmented generation against your own documents and records
  • Structured extraction and classification pipelines
  • Human-in-the-loop review for anything that touches a customer or a financial record

How we approach it

We choose the model by your constraints - data sensitivity, latency, cost per call - not by default. A frontier API is often the right call for a first version; a self-hosted open-source model is often the right call once volume or privacy requirements are clear. We will tell you which, and why.

04

Legacy system modernization

Improve, extend or replace software you already depend on - in stages, without stopping the business.

Suitable for

Any business running software it cannot change but cannot switch off. We have done this on systems as sensitive as core banking data.

What it solves

  • The system works but nobody can safely change it
  • The original developer is gone and there is no documentation
  • It runs on a platform that is no longer supported
  • A full rebuild has been quoted and it is not affordable or not worth the risk

Typical features

  • Technical audit of the existing codebase and database
  • Re-platforming onto a supported stack
  • Data migration from the old system with reconciliation
  • Strangler approach - new modules alongside the old system, cut over piece by piece
  • Documentation of what the system actually does

How we approach it

An audit first, and an honest answer. Sometimes the right recommendation is to keep the existing system and fix three things, and we will say so rather than sell a rebuild.

05

API & system integration

Connect the systems you already run so data moves automatically instead of through exports and re-keying.

Suitable for

Businesses running several systems that each hold part of the picture. We have integrated courier tracking, payment gateways, accounting platforms and vendor databases.

What it solves

  • Staff copy the same data between two systems every day
  • A vendor system holds data your own reports need
  • A courier, payment or accounting provider offers an API nobody has connected
  • Two systems both claim to be the source of truth

Typical features

  • REST API design and development for your own systems
  • Integration with third-party and vendor platforms
  • Scheduled synchronisation with retry and failure logging
  • Webhook handling
  • Data mapping between systems that model the same thing differently

How we approach it

We decide which system owns each piece of data before writing any code. Most integration failures are ownership disputes, not technical ones.

06

Maintenance & improvement

Fixes, performance work and new features after launch - because the business keeps changing after the project ends.

Suitable for

Clients we built for, and clients who inherited software from someone else. We take on both.

What it solves

  • The application has slowed down as data has grown
  • Small changes wait months because there is nobody to make them
  • Nobody is watching backups, errors or uptime
  • The previous developer is unreachable

Typical features

  • Bug fixing and patch deployment
  • Query and application performance tuning
  • New features and change requests, scoped and quoted individually
  • Reinstallation and environment setup
  • Annual maintenance arrangements after the warranty period

How we approach it

Every project includes a warranty period after acceptance. After that it moves to an annual maintenance arrangement. Our longest client relationship is now in its fifth year.

Not sure which of these you need?

That is normal, and it is our job rather than yours. Describe the problem in plain terms and we will tell you what would actually fix it.
